I couldn’t wait to post this!!! I know I stick with some tradition with my art but when I like the way something comes out, I don’t care about breaking the rules! If I wanted it perfect, I’d post the photo I took of this scene instead, but that would be boring! I got lost in the brushwork as I worked on this piece and my emotions came through with each expressionistic brushstroke. There’s a lot of feeling in this piece and that is more important to me to convey than method. The sun had just started to set and illuminated the clouds, trees, churches and bridge with a glorious pink. This shifting light, moving clouds, changing trees and flowing river fueled my energy and creativity. This is in the View My Paintings, Places/Bridge/River Scenes Link.
This storefront of a Tarot Card Reading/Holistic/Buddhist Shop in Newtown, PA had such a compelling window display I had to capture it. I’ve been to Newtown several times lately but this was the first I saw of this shop and it stopped me in my tracks. The statues of the Buddha heads on top of the Roman columns bring me peace and serenity everytime I look at them. You don’t have to be Buddhist to appreciate their beauty and symbolism. The tree in all of fall’s glorious foliage was both a challenge and a joy to paint. I love looking into the bright distance and seeing the glimpses of people walking down the street.
